As this year comes to an end, I’m overwhelmed with gratitude, and in awe of what 2018 brought me. It was a year of HUGE business growth, and reaching goals I never thought I would even have set for myself. Attaining some for this year that I set as more of my “five year” goal. But hey, I’ll gladly embrace it. I feel like I have SO much I want to share, and not sure if I’ll even cover it all since it’s been such a huge year… but to sum it up in a few highlights…
~RDP turned FOUR last January and I had big plans for the year, but never anticipated the growth that my small business would have!
~ The year started off some amazing newborn and baby sessions, including this one…
Immediately after taking this completely candid photo of mama holding and swaying with her baby, and seeing the image in the back of my camera, I knew that the journey of Motherhood is what I wanted specialize in. It didn’t take much for me to turn in this direction, as my business was kind of turning to on it’s own. This was just my ah ha moment, where I knew what exactly I was meant to do…
~I started a carefully curated client wardrobe last year, that began with gowns for moms and items for babies, and now has (significantly grown, whoopsie) to outfit your entire family, adding new items every month!!!
~ I completed a business mentorship late spring that helped me make a few changes, including my new website that launched in June, along with a new gallery viewing site and storefront for prints and products! I also started using a new client management system to send you all information such as contracts, invoices, etc., AND brought a new client service manager on board to the RDP team to help me manage all of that!!!=)
~After a year and a half of shooting in my home studio, I took a leap and signed a lease on a brick and mortar studio space in July. This was something on my five year goals for 2019, but, well, sometimes you find the perfect place, and you have to just do it!
~Had 45 newborn sessions and many many more family, celebration, and seasonal sessions, a few too many to count.
~All of my seasonal sessions, Valentines, Spring at the Greenhouse, Bluebonnets, Christmas in July (The Santa Experience signup) and fall family sessions all sold out, within hours of going out. I even added on more times to some of them.=)
~I joined a group of wonderful Motherhood Photographers with a continuing education membership, where we receive fresh content each month from experienced educators to help us learn, grow, and reach and exceed our goals. We learn from each other, feed off each other, and support one another. I’ve made friends across the country through this group and hope to meet some of them in real life this year!
~Checked a few things off my bucket list, including photographing my girls at Disneyworld and the Beach.
I’m working on outlining my sessions for the year, and goals for 2019, and will share those really soon! My calendar is already filling up and I’m reserving due dates into summer 2019. Here is a peek of just some of my favorite sessions from this year…
