What is a “Celebration session” you may ask? Well, it’s simply that. It’s one of my session offerings where we celebrate a milestone. Mostly birthdays, but also the baby milestones such as rolling, sitting, standing and so on. These sessions are VERY popular to celebrate the one year milestone. But, I’ve also had many two year olds, all the way to five year olds celebrating their birthday milestones! We may not do a cake for those older milestones, but we do customize it to what your child wants!=) I never really time any of my sessions. Between being a mom to three little ladies, to photographing babies, I know all too well the flow of the session depends on THEM. For these celebration sessions, babies, typically give us a good 20-30 minutes. I offer a consultation to fully plan out these sessions including what mom, family and baby/child may borrow from my Studio Wardrobe, and if we are planning on a cake or not so we can make the most of our time. If we plan on a few family shots, we typically take them at the beginning, do a quick outfit change for baby, take a few photos of baby, and then move on to the cake if we are celebrating the big ONE!
Now sometimes the baby has had cake, sometimes this is their very first time to try it. Sometimes they LOVE it, and sometimes they, well they DON’T love it! I’ve had it all! Either way, the milestone is absolutely one to celebrate, and we create beautiful memories, happy or not!=) Sweet Violet was a doll for her session and we captured some absolutely adorable mommy and me shots at her session. Clothing for both mom and baby provided by the RDP Studio Wardrobe.
The cake… well she wasn’t so fond of, especially in the high chair, once we moved it on to the floor, she was a little more interested in it…
I’ve learned to just be flexible with babies and go with the flow for these types of sessions, and we always end up with such an amazing album of memories. We are now booking Celebration sessions well into June, so Contact us if you are interested in reserving yours!
